These terms and conditions govern the Mac repair services provided by The MacSmiths, operated by Paul Davis, at 489 Hackney Road, London E2 9ED. By bringing your device to us for repair, you agree to these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Before any repair work begins, we will assess your device and provide you with a diagnosis and a price for the work required. No repair work will begin until you have given your explicit approval of the quote, either in person, by telephone, or in writing.
If during the repair we discover additional faults not identified at the point of assessment, we will contact you before proceeding. You are under no obligation to authorise additional work.
All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payment is due on collection of your device. We accept cash and card payment.
Our no-fix, no-fee guarantee applies in all cases: if we are unable to repair your device, you will not be charged for labour. Any parts used or ordered specifically for your repair may be charged at cost.
We aim to complete most repairs on the same day. Where a repair requires parts to be ordered or additional time, we will advise you of the expected timescale when you bring your device in. Turnaround times are estimates and not contractually binding unless confirmed in writing.
We take all reasonable precautions to protect the data stored on your device. However, we recommend that you back up your data before bringing your device in for repair. We cannot be held liable for data loss resulting from repair work, hardware failure, or circumstances beyond our control.
Where data recovery is the purpose of the repair, we will discuss the likely outcomes with you before work begins. Data recovery success cannot be guaranteed.
All repairs carried out by The MacSmiths are covered by a 90-day warranty on parts and labour, unless otherwise stated. This warranty covers defects directly arising from the repair work carried out.
This warranty does not cover:
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by this warranty.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be performed with reasonable care and skill. If we fail to meet this standard, you are entitled to ask us to repeat the service or, where that is not possible, to receive a price reduction. These statutory rights cannot be excluded or limited by these terms.
If your device is not collected within 30 days of you being notified that your repair is complete, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you. After 90 days from notification, we reserve the right to dispose of uncollected devices in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. We will notify you in writing before taking any such action.
Our total liability to you in connection with any repair shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us for that repair. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, or economic losses to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms applicable to your repair are those in force at the time you bring your device to us. The current version is always available on this page.
